Dr. Laura McPherson is a Research Investigator I at the Center for Research and Evaluation (CRE). Dr. McPherson’s research examines the intersection of social determinants of health and health outcomes in populations with chronic and multiple health conditions.<\/p>\n

Dr. Laura McPherson received her PhD and MPH in epidemiology from Emory University. With over ten years of experience in health services research, Dr. McPherson has focused on evaluating and improving the quality of health care delivery.\u00a0 Her expertise includes community health surveillance projects, evaluating multilevel health education interventions, and developing epidemiological studies to examine the impact of socioeconomic and health system processes on access to health care.<\/p>\n

The goal of this research is to characterize early access to kidney transplantation among adult patients with lupus nephritis-associated end-stage kidney disease by evaluating the impact of socioeconomic and health system processes on early transplant access outcomes.<\/p>\n

Evaluating unplanned dialysis start: A mixed-methods study of social and psychosocial factors<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The overall goal of this pilot study is to characterize patients with advanced chronic kidney disease at Kaiser Permanente Georgia at risk for an unplanned dialysis start. We will identify patient characteristics and potentially modifiable social and psychological factors associated with unplanned dialysis start.<\/p>\n
