R. L. Felipe Lobelo, MD, PhD, FAHA

Dr. Roberto Leon “Felipe” Lobelo is the Physician Program Director for Epidemiology, Public Health, and Preparedness and a senior consultant for population health research in the Quality and Patient Safety Department, Southeast Permanente Medical Group. He is a medical epidemiologist focusing on health services and implementation research leveraging clinical-community linkages, lifestyle, lifestyle medicine, and health disparities in non-communicable and infectious diseases.
Dr. Lobelo completed his medical training and his specialization in epidemiology and preventive medicine at Universidad del Rosario Medical School in Bogota, Colombia. Subsequently, he completed his PhD in exercise science at the Arnold School of Public Health, University of South Carolina. For his post-doctoral training, he served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and a member of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition Science Board. Dr. Lobelo is also an Associate Professor of Global Health at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University.
