Family Ties<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Between 5% and 10% of all cancers have a hereditary link, which means that changes (or mutations) in specific genes are passed from one blood relative to another. People who inherit one of these gene changes will have a higher risk of developing cancer at some point in their life. Genetic Counseling<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Genetic counseling can address questions about hereditary cancer, including risk to family members, options for family planning, insurance concerns, cancer screening, prevention, and treatment plans.<\/p>\n

At Kaiser Permanente, licensed certified genetic counselors can assess the risk of cancer in a family, explain genetic testing options, and coordinate genetic testing when appropriate.<\/p>\n

Advanced Tools and Technologies<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As cancer treatments become more sophisticated, our oncologists, hematologists, and surgeons continually evaluate and adopt the latest diagnostic technologies and treatment services.
